The warriors of Filipino metal, Wolfgang, howl anew with an impending concert on Thursday, March 19th at 8 p.m. at the Music Musuem in Greenhills, San Juan. Presented by No Fear, Wolfgang shapeshifts in the show entitled "Two Sides Live", that features both electric as well as acoustic performances. It will combine both intensity and intimacy with Wolfgang's trademark ferocious aural attack. Advance ticket sales for Wolfgang's core pack of fans open this week via a special hotline 0906-103-5333. Check for more details on the official Wolfgang Philippine pages on Facebook and Multiply. Wolfgang is Basti Artadi on vocals, Manuel Legarda on guitars, Ramon Legaspi on bass and Francis Aquino on drums. Joining the headbangers' ball are comrades-in-arms, Razorback (Kevin Roy, Tirso Ripoll, Louie Talan and Brian Velasco.) The brotherhood of wolves will perform next at the Mosaic Music Festival on March 22nd at the Esplanade – Theaters by the Bay in Singapore. Both shows will feature Wolfgang's monster hits as well as new material from their 6th album "Villains", which remains firmly in the top 5 best-selling albums in the metro. (Official media partners for the Manila event are NU 107, Underground Radio and Jam 88.3) Interviewed out of the Lion City, about the process of transforming their recordings to acoustic performances, Basti Artadi said, "We simply change them. It would be pointless to try and capture the exact same thing as an electric recording when going acoustic, because it simply is a completely different animal. "We do keep some similar elements, however, such as the drum breaks and the mid-section jamming to still connect it to the original," Artadi explained.
For Manuel Legarda, "I would try to pick out the most prominent guitar layer and prioritize that. If possible, I would sometimes blend two parts together and play them as one. For the acoustic shows, it's a little tougher so I also like re-working each song's arrangement to fit the acoustic instrument better. This usually involves changing the tempo, dynamics and chord voicings."

MANILA— Police say a brother of Philippine-born hip-hop singer apl.de.ap of the popular group Black Eyed Peas has been fatally shot in their northern hometown. Chief Inspector Wilfredo Paulo said Joven Pineda Deala was shot in the head early Tuesday as he and his girlfriend were eating in his car that was parked outside the woman's home in Angeles City. He says the gunman and his accomplice escaped on foot. The 21-year-old Deala died on the way to the hospital. Paulo says the attack was apparently without provocation and investigators are looking for a possible motive. Deala was a half-brother of apl.de.ap, whose real name is Allan Pineda Lindo. Reports say he will attend his brother's funeral. No date has been set.(AP)
