Rico Blanco MANILA– One of the most sought-after rock artists in the Philippines, Rico Blanco, has released a free single to raise awareness, and ultimately, funds to help the victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng. The single entitled, "Bangon," accompanied by a music video can now be downloaded for free on his website. "I am offering a completely new song, 'Bangon' as a free download, " Mr. Blanco said." Hopefully it will also raise some badly needed funds through your donations. Warner Music Philippines is currently helping me set up a bank account to accomodate your cash donations as well as a Paypal account for those of you who wish to help from overseas."
Mr. Blanco also said that he is waiving all royalties due to him for this new song, which he will instead go to affected families.

LOS ANGELES – A benefit concert on Saturday, October 24 at Café-Club Fais Do-Do in Los Angeles has been organized in response to the medical needs of victims of the late September-early October typhoons that struck the Philippines. Entitled, A Flood Of Hope, the concert will feature soul/funk band Elson and the Soul Barkada, the powerpop band Random Ninjas and Kapoteng Bakal, a “supergroup” comprised of former members of various popular ‘80s and ‘90s rock bands from the Philippines. Additional acts are also slated to perform.

More Photos here NEW YORK– In yet another show of strength that can rival the combined forces of the two typhoons that wreck havoc in the Philippines, ‘Ondoy’ and ‘Pepeng,’ local artists, music scene supporters, and community groups staged a triumphant benefit show on Sunday, October 11, in New York City raising $1,120 to aid the victims of these weather calamities through Sagip-Tulong sa Pilipinas and The Philippine National Red Cross. The show Flood Aid 1, a community effort led by Poptimes Magazine, Ugnayan ng mga Anak ng Bayan, the local Fil-Am music supporters, and Damayan Migrant Workers featured the world class talents of Jeni Nielsen, Sodapop Suicide, John Flor Sisante, Pachada, Qwadra, Trickbag, John Violago, Prtdth, Jay Legaspi, Higher Ground, and 2 D.I.M.
