The Chicago Promoters' Ordinance has been tabled (for the time-being). In other words, the issue is still very much alive and well, and we hold our breath until the next time it rears it's ugly head. The City Council has held meetings with "invited members of the Chicago entertainment industry" which roughly translates to the tens of thousands of Chicago artists (musicians, actors, artist, poets, fans, etc.) having no input whatsoever, and once again are left out in the cold. We find this to be disconcerting, to put it mildly. An ordinance that could have such wide reaching implications on artists, innovation, and the future culture of such a great city (let alone the rest of the country) deserves far more consideration then just some "face time" with what the city sees as it's prime money makers. One only needs look as far the broadcast radio, entertainment & recording industries to see where the potential for misuse and abuse lays. These groups are nothing but self-serving and have no interest in the concerns of the independent artist and DO NOT SPEAK FOR THE CREATIVE COMMUNITY - period, point blank.

The Kuwagos, from left to right: Cho Lopez, Marc Lacsamana, and Gatchie Ignacio NEW YORK– One of the most prominent bands in the Fil-Am music scene, The Kuwagos, are scheduled to release their first single in a year and a half, according to their label Soulworks.
The label announced that the release will be a double-sided single that will feature two new songs from the trio: “Lagi sa Kama,” and “You, A-Who.”
The label also disclosed that the band recently wrapped up shooting for their debut music video.
The Kuwagos released their debut album in January of 2007 and it quickly became one of the most important releases in the whole Fil-Am music scene. The band underwent some personal changes earlier this year, but with this new release, they are definitely back on track.
The Kuwagos, along with fellow Soulworks artists, The Happy Analogues and Sodapop Suicide will be touring Boston next month for the 1st Flipapalooza. The band, again with The Happy Analogues, will then tour Chicago for a gig with the Chicago Pinoy Music Scene community,

THE historic launch of Rock in the Box 2, the latest Filipino compilation album from Soulworks Records, dropped hard and it dropped fast. Here is an album that brings a fresh and much needed sound to the Filipino music scene…something that music fans are starving for. The 16-track album does more than bring together Filipino musicians from all over the United States and Toronto, Canada, it presents a solid wall of rock music into a world where much of mainstream music has lost all heart and true soul.

"Variations in a Foreign Land IX: Akin. Amin. Atin" is the first production in recent memory to be devoted exclusively to Filipino choreographers. Performances are at Flushing Town Hall, 137-35 Northern Blvd. Flushing (Queens, NYC).
The three participating choreographers represent a sort of "big brother, middle brother and little brother" of Filipino choreographers working in the NY dance scene today. The name "Akin. Amin. Atin." means "for me, for us, for everyone" in Tagalog.
